Cronier, Marie, "Dioscorides Excerpts in Simon of Genoa's Clavis sanationis", dins: Zipser, Barbara (ed.), Simon of Genoa's Medical Lexikon, Berlín, De Gruyter, 2013, pp. 79-98.
- Resum
- Cronier demonstrates that Simon had accessed to both the late antique Dioscorides Longobardus (6th cent., also known as "translation C" and which Simon calls "the true Dioscorides") and to the Dioscorides alphabeticus. He also used the De herbis femininis. She also raises the possibility that Simon may have been able to consult one or more illustrated copies of the Greek text of Dioscorides, but that may be a function of scribal error. She also assesses the question whether Simon had access to the Arabic translation
of Dioscorides. (Answer: mostly he was citing from a Latin translation of pseudo-Serapion, but he may also have had access to an illustrated copy of the Arabic text.)
